The Australian continent is known for its rich mineral wealth that supplies raw material for many industries. This island country has a number of cities such as Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne while Canberra is the capital of Australia. The continental climate of Australia keeps most part of the land too dry for plantations; therefore around 70 per cent of the 22.9 million people of the country choose to settle in cities involving in various kinds of industries. Sydney is the largest city in the country with a population of over 4.6 million; and the country is estimated to occupy a sparse 2.8 people per square kilometer (Australia in brief, n. d.).
Australian political administration is based on a federal parliamentary headed by the prime minister under the constitutional monarchy of the Queen. The population, culture and the lifestyle of the country are predominantly English; however, the rich industrial background of the country accommodates the migrants from more than 200 different nations. The origin of Australia dates back to about 46000 years when the indigenous tribes lived in the continent; however, the historical recognition of the island country happened with the Dutch exploration in early 1600s (Australia in brief, n. d.). Officiating evidences show that Captain James Cook, a British navigator was the discoverer of Australia in 1770. The British invasion on the island for setting up their penal colonies in the arid mainland of Australia eventually lead to the development of the region and the formation of the country as a completely united colony.
