Nutrition education is an important way to encourage healthy eating, build good lifelong habits, and combat the country’s childhood obesity epidemic and the food crisis problems. Various nutritional programs have been adapted by government to reduce the harsh effects of the food crisis in the city.
The Nutrition Council of Greater Cincinnati endow with nutrition education for after school programs at the Norwood Community Learning Centers. The Nutrition Council executes a fitness and nutrition program called the Flying Pigs Marathon, designed in order to help children remain active, eat well, and learn (Providing Nutrition Education, n.d).
A healthful diet on a regular basis can be afforded from a mainstream grocer who sells an assortment of healthful and fresh foods such as produce, dairy, and meats at affordable prices. A large section of the society depends on the fringe food diet which is very unhealthy (Food & Health in Hamilton County, Ohio, 2011, p.4).
The Ohio Food Assistance Program (Federally known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP) is basically structured in order to raise nutritional levels, expand buying power, and to preserve the health and well being of individuals in low-income households in Ohio. A household may consist of an individual or a group of individuals living together and usually purchase, arrange, and eat their food together (Ohio Food Assistance Program).
