Findings: The findings show that women are not only willing to undertake international assignments but they are also capable of coping up with the stress and strains associated with managerial roles abroad. Similarly, the findings of the study reveal that women are competent enough to overcome international barriers and to succeed in international assignments provided that they are given the opportunity to do so.
Research limitations: The sample population selected for the study is so much limited that the findings of the study cannot claim to have a universal application world wide. The sample population represents female expatriate trends in the United States only.
Practical Implications: The practical implications of the study are many and varied. The results of the study point out that more women should be given opportunities to undertake international assignments so that they can develop themselves as model global managers and expatriates. Similarly, the finding that women are better equipped with adapting to the stress, strains and isolation of overseas jobs is very much significant as they can be entrusted with overseas assignments. Similarly, top management professionals can rely on women expatriates as they have the capacity to maintain a healthy balance, in their relationships, between locals and the headquarters.
Value to the Reader: The article offers a number of fresh insights to the mind of the reader. The role of women as effective managerial professionals and expatriates have long been underrepresented and the article prompts one to think vice versa.
