Unfortunately in America, it is more likely for the white male to be given a promotion before one is given to the white women or minority with the same education and experience, however this trend is beginning to slow. Fourth, seeking to understand why are minorities are more likely to be laid off in comparison to their white counterparts. In economic challenging times where companies are downsizing, it is more likely for a minority employee to be laid off before their white colleague. Finally, is addressing the over-representation of minorities in lower paying jobs. Most of the jobs where pay is close to the minimum wage line is occupied by minorities and labor market discrimination laws are beginning to examine this trend and address underlying reasons as to why.
3. The governments investment in womens education does result in societal as well as private benefits particularly in developing countries as it prepares the woman to enter into the workforce and become productive members of business and society as a whole. Women entering the public workforce can also bring a different outlook broadening diversity, innovation and creativity. Also, it allows for the generation of more cash flow into the economy as women who may have nurtured the home is now generating taxable income which benefits the society as a whole. The education is particularly essential in developing countries where customs or traditions may have kept the woman in the home.
6. One enormous factor that may have pushed an individual into self employment is the state of the current economy. With the massive amount of job losses across the nation one that may have traditionally worked a job has found themselves utilizing entrepreneurial talents in order to make ends meet.
