Drucker gives me an excellent array of choices, as well as a solid core curriculum from which to build.
Integrity - I take my role as a student seriously. I want to attend a school that treats me that way, and one that expects its faculty and staff to treat their own roles with the utmost respect. The faculty at the Drucker School—from everything Ive researched—do. This shared integrity will allow me to hold my head high as a Latina, as a woman, and as a Druckers graduate.
Excellence - I value this principle in others as well as in myself. Since the Drucker Schools faculty are ranked in the top five MBA programs in the United States, I know your school holds the same high standards that I do. I am confident that with such expert guidance, I will be able to meet any challenge the future holds for me.
I was born into a very poor family, and had to struggle to teach myself in an environment that was far from supportive. Neither my father—an alcoholic—nor my mother, who wanted me to earn income for the family, were interested in helping me to further my education. I did not even have my own bed to sleep in, let alone a computer on which to do schoolwork and studying. Nonetheless, I studied hard, arriving at school early to type up my assignments and staying up late to study for my AP courses.
In my undergraduate career at Cal Poly Pomona, I have continued the habits I taught myself. In addition to studying, I co-founded the business schools Council of Supply Chain Management, Student Round Table. I am also the Program Chair and Vice President for the round table, a role which allows me to help not only myself, but my fellow students. One of the ways I have accomplished this during my tenure is by organizing guest speakers, including the Vice Presidents of Supply Chain Operations for major companies such as Whirlpool, Coca-Cola, and Hewlett Packard.
