Download file to see previous pages Her response to this has been that the guidelines are not specific or written, the USA is divided into regions and the company hires sales representatives to cater to each region and to cover a territory.  She also highlighted that the company did not have a specialised training processes and the main training of the company has been based on ‘On – the – job’ trainings. The training is done by a senior member of the company who travel the territory and work with the new hires for a few weeks.
The sales team received a salary based on the commission. Compensation is used as a performance incentive.  A minimum acceptable performance would be obtaining a sales volume that would earn commissions that are at least equal to the base salary. The employees have also been given the benefits of a company American Express Card and this would be billed directly to the company, as the company deals with a whole lot of travelling. The employees also are evaluated based on the sales volumes of the company and this is how the managers base the performance of the employees. She also threw light on the fact that employees do not need to make any negotiations based on the prices but aim more at the value and benefits to the clients.
Ms. Pitrolo also revealed the secret of a successful salesperson to be the self motivation that individuals have within themselves. She confirmed that this was the underlying success factor along with the excellent pays and the excellent activities and responsibilities that are given to the sales people.
