09 July 2007 Global Warming Global warming is currently considered as one of the world's largest problems because of its numerous and huge expected adverse effects in all aspects of human life. In simple words, this phenomenon can be defined as the increase in the average temperature of the earth's near-surface air and oceans. Global warming can be traced to the increased level of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere because of human activity such as coal burning and the use of automobiles (Global Warming Basics 2).

This rise in temperature is expected to bring about sudden changes in the global climate "causing parts of the earth to dramatically heat up or cool down in a span of few years" (Global Warming 1). Global warming will generally make the sea level rise and changes the amount and pattern of precipitation resulting in floods and droughts. Experts add other detrimental effects: "Other effects may include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors" (Global Warming 1).

The detrimental effects of the global warming can be felt in some of the regions of the globe. Thus, there is a need for an effective and immediate solution to this problem to spare the world of its damaging effects. In recognition of this problem, business organizations, institutions, environmental groups and institutions are now engaged in ardent efforts in minimizing the causes of global warming. For example, since the gases emitted by automobiles are identified as the second largest cause of global warming, car manufacturers are now investing the design and manufacture of more environment-friendly cars.

Governments are also mandating the industry to reduce their emission of greenhouse gases. Amidst all these efforts, global warming remains a looming threat for the world as it is not fully eliminated by the solutions put in place. I believe that the best solution for global warming is the collective effort of everyone in the world. It should be noted that this problem is not just the concern of the government or business organizations but everyone in the society. All of us irrefutably have our own little contributions in the aggravation of this phenomenon through the choices that we make.

Thus, it can best be solved through our collective effort in choosing our energy sources, the automobiles that we use, in pushing for laws which protects the environment eliminates harmful gas emissions, and stopping the usage of products which contributes to global warming. Leaving global warming in the hands of few institutions and business organizations neglects the largest factors in the solution of the problem-us, ordinary individuals. We should note that the existence of business organizations are determined by the customers as well as politicians are only elected by citizens.

Thus, we have the responsibility of patronizing products from a socially responsible company and supporting a candidate who is committed in solving the problem. We should also opt to utilize other energy sources like wind, geothermal, and solar. Works Cited "Global Warming."
