 Higgins is a valuable asset for the company. He has a deep knowledge of the language and culture of Japan, which can prove invaluable for the Japanese division of the company. He also has ample experience in the international sector, which has made him an expert in international dealings. In fact, his input has proven to be quite beneficial on many occasions. His deep-seeded interest in Japan has been intensified by his marriage to a Japanese woman, further strengthening the bond which he feels with the country and its people. To simply ignore these aspects of his personality and to require of him to become suddenly detached from the culture emotionally would be impractical and disadvantageous. Weaver Pharmaceuticals inadvertently has to consider the values of the local culture and the issues and concerns of the native employees in order to ascertain growth and expansion in the company (Certo 2002:5-14). It is not to be objected that Higgins speaks on behalf of the Japanese employees, neither it is unlawful or against the company policy to stand for an employee against his firing. However, Prescott has some justifiable concerns about Higgins as well. The management of the company has to maintain a certain emotional distance in order to work efficiently productively.
