My whole family really got excited after hearing about the museum and could not wait to see it. The museum is as important to see while going to China as the pyramids are during your Egypt tour. The next day morning, we left for Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum which is located at a thirty minutes drive from Xi’An.
We also hired a guide for us so that we could get as much knowledge from him as possible. The guide gave us a brief introduction of the history of the Terracotta museum. The museum contains sculptures of horses and warriors representing the army of the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. This army was build almost two thousand years before and consisted of almost eight thousand Terracotta soldiers to guard the emperor. A group of farmers discovered these warriors in 1974. While they were busy in digging the well, they noticed some pottery pieces and they provide them to archaeologists for further investigation(“Qin Terra Cotta Army Museum”).This museum is built on the same cite and every year millions of people come and visit the place. The main purpose of building this funerary art of eight thousand sculptures of warriors was to guard the emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in his afterlife. The museum was built on the site in 1975.
We really enjoyed watching a 360-degree movie about the discovery of army after entering into the museum. The museum is basically divided into three sections and has the covering area of 16,300 square meters. These three main sections are also termed as pits known as pit 1, pit2 and pit 3.
