Download file to see previous pages Theodore Roethke has explored certain themes in this particular poem. There is the theme of love in that despite the papa’s shortcomings, his son loves him and looks up to him and cherishes the dances with him. He is thus ready to endure whatever little discomforts that come with the dance. Another theme that comes out in the poem is that of family relationship. As stated earlier, there is the use of irony in that during the course of the waltz, the persona seems to be experiencing some discomfort but would not give up on the dance. ...Download file to see next pagesRead more
