 Firstly, the quality of pictures remains the same throughout, even when they are shared digitally through different websites. Secondly, the pictures in this format can be easily compressed and saved at a much-reduced size than that of the original picture, allowing the pictures to load much quicker than the usual time. In addition to that, the added advantage of using JPEG format for pictures is that they can be viewed on all the major web browsers and operating systems. The most preferred and commonly used format by web designers for simple images is GIF.

If there was an option between choosing GIF or any other format, I would choose GIF on any given day. The reason for saying this so confidently is because of compatibility of the format with all the major browsers. Secondly, the size of the GIF files is much smaller than that of other formats, which help in loading the images much quicker. Lastly, through GIF, an animation effect can also be added to the pictures.
