Download file to see previous pages Despite the fact that the economy of the country experienced a significant growth during this period, the members of the public were subjected to allot of unjust treatments. For business people to do well in business, corruption was the order of the day. The government usually protected the business people in return for their payments. The government also made sure that the cost of labor remained low. With cheap labor, the Korean industry was able to export products cheaply, thus their good performance in the international markets during this period. The interesting bit about this regime is the fact that despite there being a lot of corrupt practices, the country’s economic experienced a significant growth. The main argument, in this case, is that being a host of the Olympics had both positive and negative effects.
Most of the people of Korea would have expected a little bit democratic handling of the situation. This is intensified by the fact that the new regime had already given the people the impression that they would make sure that the injustices that they were subjected to during the previous regime would be a part of history that they will not go to at that moment. It can be understood that they wanted to give a good impression of the state of the country and the progress that it had made since the new regime took over.
