Those who were well to do in the ghettos and had businesses were forced to give them up since they were considered to be poor and so they should not try to be rich.
Another mechanism used was the “mercy killings”. Most disabled and physically challenged people lived in the ghettos, and the Nazis n the euthanasia campaign were ordered to kill them saying it was justice to them to end their suffering. The Jews living in Kovno were kept away from information. So they were not allowed to have radios, and anyone found with radio the punishment was a death penalty, and many people could die if found connected to the criminal. The able - bodied men were not able to walk freely during the day as they feared being spotted by German soldiers and taken to the fields of battle or labor. The other persecution mechanism was the subjection of children above 12 years to work in the German farms without any pay and did not get any special care having lost their parents in the war,
While serving a jail term, Hitler wrote his work Mein Kampf in which he was giving out his ideas and political views and maintained that German was a strong tribe that would at one time rule the world (Doctorow, 175). There is a connection, therefore, between the policies implemented in Kovno ghetto and the ideas of Hitler. First was that the Jews were a separate race and could not be German. When he got into power, Hitler sent Jews to detention camps and ghettos and mass murdered them claiming they did not have blonde hair and blue eyes. Another policy was capitalism. Hitler believed that communism was a very big threat to the German economy and so he hated the Jews for inventing this and so he sought to end it by killing the Jews.
