The name “cold war” is used because it did not feature any direct military action because both sides possessed nuclear weapons and the use of these arms from either side was a guaranteed destruction for both. The cold war ended in 1945 after the Berlin wall was broken down, the Soviet Union was defeated by collapsing into several independent states. One side had a vast army and the other had the most powerful weapon, the A-bomb and soviets had no idea about the total number of those bombs.
We could believe for some time that the world is safer now that the cold war is over, but now that we have a multi-polar society. The current prevailing issues are more hazardous than the one in which we were aware of the enemies and there were a constant negotiation to solve the issues but now it only takes a bomb attack and lots of false accusations to set the world on fire which would end nobody knows where.
2) World War II began in 1939 when the Great Britain and France declared a war on Germany and invaded Poland. The invasion in Poland did trigger the war on Germany, but the overall causes of the war are very complex. Following are the events that lead toward the Second World War:
Treaty of Versailles: in 1919 Lloyd George from England, Orlando from Italy, Clemenceau from France and Woodrow from US had a meeting to discuss the damages that occurred after World War I. in this meeting it was also planned that how Germany should be made to pay for starting the war. Woodrow Wilson formed a treaty based on 14 points, George Clemenceau and Lloyd George strongly agreed to them. Germany had been expecting something like it but they were unhappy with ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

One Laptop Per Child Policy
...One Laptop Per Child Policy The right to education is one of the many human rights that is usually taken for granted. Unlike the right to live or to freedom which has a lot of laws and legal provisions to ensure they are being served and to punish those who promote the lack of which, the right to education, in my opinion, does not have that much strong foundation as to how it should be implemented in our society today. With this said, there are a lot of poor societies who are not given the opportunity to get access to tools to equip them for a high-quality education such as computers. Until today, there is still an open discussion whether poor societies should be given government funds...

...ENGLISH Salton Sea is regarded as a mysterious place to visit, which is located in California in the United s. Its temperature levels are baking hot and below the seal level. There have been numerous assumptions made towards the nature and occurrences that are found in the sea mainly because of the occurrences that led to its formation. On the shore there are numerous dead fish due to the salt formation in a sea, which used to be a fresh water lake until the salt and fertilizers emerging from the Imperial Valley accumulated and became toxic to the sea creatures. As a result, the scenery location has been labelled the Dead Sea. Based on all the assumptions made on how strange the sea is my curiosity of the entire scenery is quite... Salton...

...Dilemma of Choosing Between Happiness and Truth There is always a philosophical dilemma in choosing between truthand happiness. If I were given the option to swallow a pill that will always make me happy, even when I am dying, I would choose to swallow it even if it will make me believe all sorts of falsehoods. I believe and prefer the pursuit of happiness rather than the pursuit of truth in order to live well. This proposition is drawn from the differences between stoic logos and the Epicurus right pleasures. Epicureanism suggests that pleasure is the end of life, and allows people to live free of any sort of pain (Mac, 2009). The primary idea in support of Epicureanism is that a wise person will always remain happy even if he... of...

The cruelty of the slave owners is graphically described by both Douglass and Jacobs. The beatings that Henny whose hands had been injured in an accident endured morning noon and night, and the...

... Reflection on the English 101 has granted me the opportunity to bring my command of English to a higher level. What I achievedis a substantially refined skill of writing, expressing myself, and brainstorming. Through completion of different tasks that required various skills, I have unveiled for myself the sheer majesty of English language.             Firstly, the course dedicated much time to rhetoric. We learned how emotion and expertise can strengthen the credibility of a paper. Prior to the course, I had only applied expertise when intending to persuade the audience. I avoided using emotion since I perceived it as unprofessional and unacademic. Learning how to arouse the audience’s emotion is among the most valuable... Reflection on...

...Suicide in relation to human needs Suicide can be defined as one’s deliberate act of ending his or her life. It is becoming a more common in the 21st century as more people are becoming involved in such an act, which some specialists refer to as a “natural response” to certain circumstances that affect people. Some major factors that have been identified as the major causes of suicide are like failure to find love and affection, which are important aspects of life (Lam 22). Denial can lead to depression. Loss of love is also another major factor, together with lack of achievement and success in one’s life in general or area of specialization (Jamison 99).
