We refer to the articles as "Freedmen" (LOC, 2002b), "Georgia" (LOC, 2002c), "Shorrow" (LOC, 2002d), "Bowers" (LOC, 2002e), and "Evans" (LOC, 2002f) as noted in the Reference List.
The earliest article was written in 1859 ("Georgia") while the latest article was dated 1939 ("Shorrow"). "Evans" is undated, but its narrator was born in 1855.
