Animal studies give initial information that aids scientists during the design of human studies. For studies that cannot be done on humans, animals are used in their place, for example, by creating a deficiency of nutrients in animals and studying its various effects on the life span of the animal. This is not ethically acceptable in human tests. However, ethical issues are also a problem in animals, on top of the fact that they may not be applied to animals directly.
