As one pushes the clutch pedal, the driver is able to change to a new gear while disengaging the current gear. He relaxes the clutch pedal once the gear is chosen. It is quiet important to learn how to start the car as because if one releases the clutch quickly then the car will violently lurch forward or it may get stall. As the clutch is engaged one needs to push accelerator pedal a little harder. Once the car is launched with the help of manual transmission then the rest becomes easy. That is why one needs to know the exact friction point for when the car starts to move and this will help in to move your car in a better motion. Once the friction is felt, then one should slowly start giving the gas, say about 1-2 rpms worth gas. The amount of gas need to be given is very crucial as too little can stall the car while too much can burn the clutch. With the use of clutch you have learnt the process of starting a car.
It is important to know that where all the gears in the car located. The H pattern on the stick shift has to be noticed. This will help one in learning the gears. One can shift from 1-2-3-4-5 to the 6th gear. One has to keep in mind that when it is required to shift by looking at rpms or the speed of the vehicle. One should usually shift at 2.5 K to 3k rpms. To shift the gears on the basis of speed varies from vehicle to vehicle. One has to read the user manual in case of this shifting of gear on the basis of speed. One has to remember speed for each gear is much more important in the case of downshifting rather than in case of upshifting. One has to keep the left foot on clutch and right foot on brake and then move to the first gear. Acceleration requires shifting to higher gears.
