Download file to see previous pages Petroski has been made good use of his knowledge in engineering, managing to influence the establishment and creation of various innovations that have continued to influence man’s quality of life. Most of the achievements and works of Petroski were famous in the 1990s, a time when the millennium was just approaching. At this time, there was need to assess some of the achievements that the engineering field had brought to peoples domestic and corporate life.
This paper explores some of the achievements that have been made by Petroski, in this case, it places biasness on his famous writing, “Falling Down is Part of Growing.” The literal work that provides an examination of how the engineering field has been successful in achieving some important milestones as far as human life is concerned amidst various social and economic challenges among others.
Petroski explains that before the world ushered in the new millennium, there was a need to look back and reflect on the path engineering had taken, this was in order to find out some of the important achievements that has been attained (Petroskia para 1-2). This concern promoted the National Academy of Engineering to convene a meeting to brainstorm and deliberate on this agenda. It is during this meeting that it was discovered that many achievements has been made, some of the important achievements included, improved electrification programs in the country and beyond, the automobile and airplane sectors among many others
The rural electrification program in the United States at this time had led to many other achievements because of the efficiency that was being experienced in many other industrial processes. Many people who took a lot at how the process was done under carefully planned coordination and collaborative process by engineers and physicians can ascertain that it was one of the best achievements to usher in the new millennium.
