Download file to see previous pages They got married ten years ago. Life was really tough to start with since both of them were young and poor. Jacob and Beth and decided that they would both work together to start their family and never take any financial aid from parents. It was a common practice in those days. Jacob was an artist by profession and Beth, a school teacher at an elementary school nearby. The first couple of years went smoothly. Both were energetic and desired more work spending more time together on weekends. For Jacob, this was a treat. A couple of years later Beth gave birth to a lovely baby girl. They named her Georgette. This addition in the family changed many things to start with; Jacob no longer stayed in his studio. His life was naturally painted with bright colors with a lovely wife on one side and an irresistibly beautiful daughter on the other.
Life was now more about spending as much time playing and working for Georgette. Both Beth and Jacob began spending their savings on their baby. Jacob took charge of taking care of Georgette the most so he used to take her to his studios where she lay in her cot and he painted his life away looking and smiling at her. Beth started spending more time in her teaching profession. She began exerting too much pressure on herself and eventually started to look sick. Her paleness was noticed by Jacob who was doing the dishes after dinner, one day.
“What happened to you?” he spoke out of concern. Beth ignored his question and took Georgette for sleeping. Jacob rushed to catch up on Beth and asked her again if she was doing well. She gave him a dry smile and continued to pretend that she was putting Georgette to sleep. Jacob was hurt at this gesture. He started wondering if he had forgotten to do something he was supposed to do. Next morning he woke up with the sound of Georgette crying in her folded bed. Beth was late for school.
