It suggest that the tree life has been branching the last four bullion years and thus, the starting point can be identified by following the branches back to their roots. With the camera being focused on the fossilized animal and plant parts, the main events that may have led to the evolutionary steps are revealed. The story of the transformation of the whale from a land creature to a sea creature is for example told on the basis of the argument that over fifty million years ago, all mammals were land creatures and the fish colonized the land.
There are some observable similarities and differences between the narration in the documentary and the Mendel experiments. Mendel came up with a model of heredity which is now widely used in understating various biological phenomena involving plant and animal evolution. This was done through plant experiments that explained short and tall traits. The traits were basically as a result of the passage of genes from one species to the other with the dominant gene make up influencing the plant appearance. According to the narration, the similarity between them is attributed to gene alterations which have taken place with time. However, the narration heavily attributes these changes to environmental factors rather than the passage of genes from one generation to the other.
The documentary illustrates how the prevailing environmental conditions had an impact on the animal and plant phenotypes. In exploring the whale evolution, it talks about how the whales in food and safety in the waters forcing them to move from the land to the sea. With time, the format legs changed to become fins with the rear legs disagreeing. Due to the conditions in the sea waters, they lost the fur on their skin and took the streamlined bodies which currently allows them to easily move in ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...that showed that she was interested in him. When Maya did finally dump him, because he did not tell her about Jack’s engagement, this was confirmation that his original schema was correct, as this assimilated into his world view. However, by the end of the film, there was evidence that Miles have finally rejected his schema, as she called him and he immediately drove up to go to her house. Miles had finally rejected his own schema long enough to find love with Maya. Jack, on the other hand, appears to have an opposite schema regarding women. He has organized cognitions regarding the behavior of women, and women apparently have fallen all over him in the past, probably because of his status as an actor. Therefore, Jack...

...?The concept of anomie is used to describe the lack of social norms that tends to produce normlessnes (Gerber & Macionis, p.97). Anomie portrays the failure of social bonds between the individual and society. This occurs through the fragmentation of social identity along with a rejection of self-regulatory values. The concept was made popular by the French sociologist Emile Durkheim in his acclaimed work Suicide (1897). The term was borrowed from the French philosopher Jean-Marie Guyau. Durkheim himself did not use the term “normlessness”, instead, he has explained the term anomie by stating “a rule that is a lack of rule”, “derangement” and “an insatiable will” (Mestrovic, 1994). ...Film Analysis: Kieslowski. The Polish film director Kieslowski was born in Warsaw in 1941 and died at the age of 54 in 1996, having produced a number of very widely acclaimed short films. His technique owes a lot to the documentary style of film, where the camera observes the minute details of peoples’ lives, often letting the surroundings and the habitual actions of the main characters create the mood and context for the film. The important Decalogue series (Kieslowski, 1988-89), for example, was made for television and broadcast in separate one hour films. As the title suggests, it has the Old Testament’s ten...
