As mentioned in the previous question, population growth is a serious concern in China. There are approximately 1.3 billion people living in China; this represents 1/7 of the all of the people living on the planet can be found in China (Lallanilla). For this reason, the government implemented the “one child policy.” This prevents families from bringing more people into the world that is already overcrowded. Each family can freely have one child, however, when necessary any couple can petition to have another. Under certain circumstances this is acceptable. For example, if the child is a girl, the family would have no male heir to the family name; in these cases another child may be allowed.
1. Using the U.S. data at and to compare the population size, age structure, and population projection for 2050 of your country to the United States. Which of the two will have a greater impact on the world condition in 2050? Explain.
Based on the charts provided, China will have less population growth between 2020 and 2050 than the United States will continue to grow, although nominally at 0.70% increase. For this reason I would definitely say that the United States will surpass the overall population of China and have a greater overall impact.
2. Select another country from those posted on the discussion forum. When choosing the other country, try to find one that has problems different from your own. Compare the population size, age structure, and population projection for 2050 of your country to your classmate’s country. Which of the two will have a greater impact on the world condition in 2050?
